Mapping the Individual Footprint: Efficient Tracking, Forecasting, and Presentation of Personal Environmental Impact Data
As environmental concerns such as greenhouse gas emissions, biodiversity loss, and pollution (GBP) continue to grow, it becomes crucial to understand our individual contributions to these issues. This research project will focus on establishing effective and efficient methods for individuals and families to track, forecast, and present their specific GBP impact data, aiming to enhance their comprehension of personal environmental impact and potential mitigating actions.
This project will organize and analyze data across four significant areas: Consumption (including categories such as food and housing), Investments (shares, bonds, etc.), Constraints and Biases (e.g., nutritional requirements, financial limitations), and Governance (areas necessitating government action).
The primary goal of this project is to provide individuals with an easy-to-use tool for monitoring their environmental footprint, and to make future projections based on their current lifestyle choices. By highlighting how different areas of their lives contribute to GBP, we aim to empower individuals to make informed, environmentally conscious decisions.
Furthermore, this project will explore ways to present the collected data in an understandable and accessible format. We aim to overcome barriers such as information overload and data complexity that often discourage individuals from actively participating in environmental conservation efforts.
Through this project, we hope to bridge the gap between individual actions and their broader environmental impact, fostering a culture of sustainability and awareness that encourages individuals and families to make a positive change in their daily lives.
